  How do I put money on an inmate's account?

All monies collected from inmates upon booking, received by mail or visitors will  be recorded on the inmate’s account and deposited into the Inmate Trust Fund  daily. Canteen purchases and medical payments will be deducted from each inmate’s account accordingly.  When an inmate is released, a check will be written for the inmate’s account balance.  Checks will be written Monday thru  Friday between 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Any inmate released after hours, weekends or holidays will have their check mailed to them on the following business day.

The Mecklenburg County Jail does not accept cash as deposits on inmate's accounts. We do accept money orders only if presented in person or mailed in to the facility. Deposits can also be made by phone or online using Access Corrections formerly known as Cybersuite.

You must report promptly to the jail at the time specified to you. Failure to report will be excused ONLY if the jail is notified PRIOR to your reporting time. If you are sick, you must have a written excuse from a licensed doctor and it must be received by the jail NO LATER THAN 8:00 am on the Monday following your absence.

Family deaths will be excused if the deceased was a member of your immediate family. (father, mother, brother, sister, spouse or child)

All absences must be reported to any one of the following individuals promptly;

Please note that any weekend that you have been excused from will have to be   made up to complete your sentence. You will only be allowed a couple of sets of undergarments when reporting. Cigarettes and other contraband will be confiscated and destroyed. No money is allowed except for payment of your weekender fees. The total amount will be presented at the time of your arrival. Unless otherwise excused by the sheriff, a person’s failure to pay the daily weekender and room/board fees shall result in the privilege of serving the sentence imposed on non-consecutive days being immediately revoked.

All weekenders are subject to random drug/alcohol testing. Any person reporting for weekend incarceration who is found under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be subject to arrest and appropriate legal action will be taken.
